iThemba Elitsha

iThemba Elitsha, meaning “new hope” in Zulu, is a community-driven project dedicated to uplifting children and young people in the township of Kleinmond, South Africa. Founded in 2017, the initiative was created to break the cycle of poverty caused by historic inequality, unemployment, and lack of opportunities.

Through our after-school care and youth center, we provide 50 children with a safe space to learn, grow, and dream: offering homework support, life skills education, and a sense of belonging. In 2022, we expanded our reach with a soup kitchen that now offers daily hot meals to children across the township, addressing one of the most pressing needs in the community.
