Meet The Team
NALA AFRIKA is a proudly women owned initiative led by three passionate changemakers committed to sustainable travel and meaningful social impact. We believe in using tourism as a force for good, not only to explore new places, but to uplift communities, protect the environment, and create lasting change in the lives of those who need it most.

Rooted in compassion, collaboration, and purpose, our work reflects the power of women to lead with integrity and heart. To support this vision, we are guided by an independent advisory board, bringing the total leadership group to five dedicated individuals. This board provides oversight, accountability, and strategic guidance, ensuring our projects are thoughtfully managed and aligned with our values as we continue to grow.

With over two decades of experience in tourism, I founded the DMC Amazing Africa out of a genuine love for Africa and a belief in tourism as a force for good.
Over the years, my work has been shaped by a strong commitment to sustainable tourism and community upliftment, with a focus on creating opportunities that are respectful, responsible, and long lasting.
I am deeply invested in raising awareness, supporting local communities, and ensuring that the work we do gives back in meaningful and thoughtful ways.

Director

I am the founder of iThemba Elitsha and work closely within the non-profit space. My focus is on supporting the rights and well-being of disadvantaged children and young people in Africa, and I am deeply committed to empowering communities and contributing to meaningful social upliftment.

The African continent has deeply touched my heart, and I feel a profound connection to its people, resilience, and potential. I firmly believe that education is the key to a self-determined and independent life. Through education, children and young people are given the tools, confidence, and opportunities they need to shape their own futures and create lasting change within their communities.

I am an insurance and finance specialist from Cologne and strongly believe that everyone in our interconnected world deserves equal opportunities.
For me, education and self esteem are the foundation on which lasting change is built. After a holiday in Namibia, I discovered a deep connection to Africa, a place that continues to inspire my commitment to creating meaningful and inclusive opportunities for others.

Director

I bring many years of experience in the tourism industry, supported by strong multilingual and financial management skills.
My role has allowed me to help shape and support initiatives for Amazing Africa that are rooted in responsibility, care, and long term thinking.
I am deeply committed to continuing this work by growing sustainable tourism and awareness in ways that genuinely benefit communities and create lasting, positive impact in the lives of others.

Heike Gerntholtz
I have always been passionate about tourism and Africa, which made joining the tourism industry straight after school a natural choice and one I have never regretted. With over 30 years of experience, I have come to understand how vital the tourism sector is, not only as a major creator of jobs, but also as a key contributor to preserving Southern Africa’s remarkable natural and cultural heritage for future generations.

Through my active involvement in the management of a private game lodge, sustainable tourism is especially close to my heart. I remain deeply committed to responsible tourism practices that protect the environment while supporting local communities.

Advisory Board
Sarah Stengel
I work for Amazing Africa and have been involved in several social projects linked to and supported by NALA Africa. I am deeply passionate about sustainable tourism and committed to supporting and uplifting less fortunate communities through meaningful and responsible initiatives.

With a strong love for Africa, I am driven by the need to help bridge the gap between vastly different lived experiences across the continent. My work is guided by the belief that tourism can be a powerful force for good when it is approached with care, respect, and a long term vision for community growth.
