Khayelitsha Canoe Club

The Khayelitsha Canoe Club is more than a place to learn how to swim and paddle; it’s a movement driven by local youth to protect their environment, build community pride, and create safer, greener spaces.

What was once a polluted pond is now a training ground for young paddlers and environmental stewards. Before each practice, members come together to clean the wetlands, fostering a culture of responsibility and care for local wildlife.

The club also creates meaningful change by reducing crime, creating jobs, and offering eco-tourism activities like river rafting and guided township tours, all led by local youth.
